Payment and insurance
Using insurance
We accept most insurances. Coverage and what you pay depend on your specific plan, including any deductible, copay, or coinsurance.
You’re welcome to check your counseling benefits with your insurance company, or we can help check whether your plan covers sessions with me and what your expected cost may be. If you’re unsure where to start, just send me a message.
Payment options
Cash, credit and debit cards, and HSA/FSA payments are accepted for eligible services. Payment, including any copay or other amount due for your session, is collected at the beginning of each session.
Questions about counseling
What happens during a consultation?
We’ll meet online for a free, 15-minute conversation. It’s a chance for you to get to know me, ask questions, and talk about what you’re looking for. We can both get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit. If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule your initial intake session.
What happens during the initial intake?
The intake is your first counseling session after we’ve decided to work together. We’ll spend more time getting to know your background, what brings you to counseling, and what you’d like help with. There’s also room for any questions you have as we get started.
Do I have to talk about everything right away?
No. We can start with what you’re comfortable sharing. If there’s something you’re not ready to talk about, you can tell me that. You don’t have to explain why before you’re ready, either.
Do I need to know which type of therapy I want?
No. You can tell me what you’re looking for help with, and we can talk through the approaches that might fit. You’re also welcome to ask about a particular approach that interests you.
Can we meet online?
Yes. Online counseling is available while you’re located in Texas. In-person appointments are available at my Denton office.
How often will we meet, and how long will I need counseling?
That depends on what brings you in and the support you need. We’ll talk about how often to meet and figure that out together. Along the way, we can check in about what’s helping, what you’d still like to work on, and whether you’d like to make any changes.
What if I need to cancel?
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel your appointment. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice incur a $50 fee.
